How’s it structured?
The Forensic Data Analytics (FDA) team uses cutting-edge technology and analytics to solve some of the most pressing fraud, compliance and regulatory issues of our biggest global clients. During the graduate programme, you should expect to quickly learn core data science, engineering and consulting skills through a combination of high-quality internal and external training courses. You'll gain industry-recognised certifications and sector knowledge on the job.
Depending on whether you join UK&I or FS, you should expect to be working on client engagements as soon as you start, applying your developing analytics skills across a wide range of clients and sectors (including Financial Services, Life Sciences, Oil and Gas, and many others). The core work that we conduct in FDA includes anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions screening, corporate fraud investigations, trader surveillance and market manipulation, and audit and compliance analytics, helping us to build greater trust between organisations and society.
As well as learning the skills to be an effective data science consultant, you'll learn how to solve complex problems and gain experience working directly with clients.
Overview of the programme:
Year 1: Core data engineering skills including data ingestion, data quality analysis, manipulation, analysis and visualisation. Alongside this technical learning, you'll also be taught the foundations of Quality and Risk Management and accounting as well as specific sector or domain knowledge.
Year 2: Building on the first year you'll continue to learn advanced data science, machine learning and AI technologies using NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow and more.
Year 3: You'll undertake a proof-of-concept project that pulls all these skills together and delivers a prototype product or service that can be deployed by the team, or the wider firm.
As the programme progresses, you’ll become more familiar with handling large data sets and designing and developing solutions. You could use social network analysis, concept clustering, predictive analytics, text mining, data visualisation and more. You’ll have access to formal and informal support, training and development opportunities. You'll participate in our annual Learning Academy, and could be offered the chance to travel abroad for an international project.
By the end of the programme, you'll likely have developed the skills and knowledge to receive a promotion and continue building a great career at EY.
This programme has given me the opportunity to learn about data science concepts and their practical applications, along with experiences in multiple sectors.
