CBAM: deep dive on implications and cross-functional response
Last summer, the EU proposed the introduction of a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) to reduce carbon emissions and ensure a level playing field between energy intensive installations based in the EU and those in third countries. The CBAM encompasses new compliance requirements for importing certain energy-intensive products starting from 2023, and the newly requested worldwide data may be difficult to attain.
Moreover, levies on embedded emissions of those imported products may follow as soon as 2025. As iron and steel, aluminum, fertilizers, plastics, and organic chemicals are used across sectors and as inputs at different stages, CBAM is likely to have substantial knock-on effects. Supply chain and trade considerations arise and require a cross-functional response.
We therefore cordially invite you to join our CBAM webcast on Wednesday, 11th May 2022, 16:00 - 17:00 CEST where we explore and discuss:
- The proposed CBAM framework as currently being discussed in the European legislative arena
- An illustrative deep dive into the trade and supply chain implications of CBAM
- Recommended actions to successfully understand CBAM exposure and responses
- Challenges currently faced by participants in their response to the CBAM proposal (Q&A)
