These are challenging times for people all over the globe and so it is reassuring that I am part of an organisation so dedicated to helping people acquire specialist knowledge that they can apply almost immediately into the workplace to help problem solve and develop solutions.

Moreover, the EY Badges programme and TechMBA are designed to empower those with a growth mindset. We believe that all our employees can be leaders. Leadership is not about rank or title, but about the internalised idea of ‘how can I be better, how can I build and grow my career at my own pace and with skills I want to develop?”
One such trailblazer is Noleen Williams, EMEIA Markets Strategy Manager whose journey to the TechMBA is deeply personal and I believe, profoundly inspirational. Says Noleen; “when I was 22, I suffered a brain tumour and wrote in my journal back then that I will have my degree by 35 as I needed to stop my studies to focus on my health. When the MBA launched, I was very excited that this opportunity had now become available. I had already been pursuing the EY Badges when Power BI and the passion I have for data started my learning journey.”
Another is Morné Du Toit, an Assistant Manager in our EY Consulting practice shared why he chose to pursue the TechMBA. “I wanted to develop my future-focussed skills and to embrace the new ways of working in the digital age. On my journey, I’ve learnt that I am capable of anything I put my mind to and the newly found skills have given me confidence and excitement for future challenges in solving our clients’ problems. Together with the Next Wave strategy that we’ve recently adopted, the TechMBA is a catalyst for my career now and in the future.”
The leadership team and I are so excited that we can provide this opportunity to our EY teams. My friend and colleague, Roderick Wolfenden, EY Africa Markets Leader noted that the dramatic rise of the importance and integration of technology, particularly evident during the months of lockdown, means the MBA has launched at the right time. He notes that just about every business is now in some way also a technology business, thus, successful businesses rely heavily on technology for communication, productivity and keeping up with advancements in industry.
This is reiterated by Abeeb Moshood, a Senior Manager in Audit, another of our Africa TechMBA qualifiers. He says, “EY is building a better working world for everyone. With technology pervading how traditional businesses function, the technology industry’s appetite for TechMBA graduates has increased tremendously. One of the key benefits of the EY TechMBA is that it will improve my theoretical and practical knowledge of how businesses operate, improve leadership and people management skills, network or partnerships, and promote and maintain the company’s positive image. I’m really prepared to make the most of this opportunity.”
These are challenging times for people all over the globe and so it is reassuring that I am part of an organisation so dedicated to helping people acquire specialist knowledge that they can apply almost immediately into the workplace to help problem solve and develop solutions.
