Entity Compliance & Governance at EY

The Entity Compliance and Governance (ECG) team assist clients in managing the complexities of law compliance, and ensure companies adhere to all relevant procedures and regulations. This helps to reduce risks and boosts efficiency through an innovative, technology-enabled approach allowing companies to focus on achieving their strategic objectives.

Technology in ECG

We have invested in true technology-enabled delivery, developing a technology suite specifically to address the challenges of global compliance and governance faced by our clients, and to transform ways of working. Our technology delivers efficiencies, improves controls and visibility and provides real-time project analytics.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing a good understanding of our clients, their organisations, stakeholders, and how they work.
  • Gaining technical skills and learning about relevant company legislation and regulation to support the team with advising clients.
  • Gaining experience in supporting and coordinating a variety of governance duties such as board meeting tasks, company registrar filings, managing changes in company structure and directorships.
  • Being part of a team developing innovative technology solutions for common challenges in the governance space.
  • Receiving opportunities for secondments to our diverse clients across a range of sectors.
  • Are you eligible to apply?

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone.

England and Northern Ireland: You will, need a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and to have completed three A-levels or (equivalent e.g. BTEC Nationals) by the time the programme starts.

Scotland: You will need a minimum grade C National 5 (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and be working towards completing 5 Highers or be working towards a SCQF Level 6/7 by the time the programme starts.

We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for individuals who will succeed at EY in the desired role and future qualifications, therefore throughout our recruitment process your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role. We are also proud to partner with RARE recruitment, so that your application can be processed in the context of your socio-economic background. This allows us to give you the maximum credit for your achievements, assessing whether you have overachieved in light of your personal circumstances.

It is therefore important that you provide us with your top three obtained or accurately predicted A-Levels (or equivalent) as these will be verified and considered as part of the offer process should you be successful. Any drop in grades could jeopardise your offer of employment.

How’s it structured?

We want you to get as much as you can from this programme. After an EY induction, you’ll get straight to work on client projects supported by our team, who will provide continuous mentorship and coaching. Through on-the-job training, you will learn how we support our clients with their corporate governance needs, and see how your studies translate into a practical setting.
Over the two years, you will work on a range of projects covering the three workstreams within ECG:

Managed Services

Learning about annual compliance requirements for companies, common matters we assist clients with, and how we project manage these requests.

Governance Advisory

Assisting with more technical govenance work, and learning more about the role of the governance professional within an organisation.

Technology & Transformation

Working on consulting projects to help clients use technology to improve their efficiency and transform their governance function.
In addition, you may have the opportunity to undertake secondments to our clients to further enhance your understanding about the role of a governance professional in an in-house setting. The programme will give you a flavour of the different directions a governance career can take you in.
