As a first-generation immigrant who was raised with entrepreneurial spirit in rural Canada, Murad Al-Katib seized an opportunity to spark a transformation in agriculture. He capitalized on the rising global demand for protein, driven by population and income growth in emerging markets. Supported by the desire of Canadian farmers to diversify their crops, Murad’s vision of building a global value-added processor of lentils and beans began. His entrepreneurial journey has been guided by the motto “From Producer to the World,” which is still the guiding principle for his global agribusiness. In just over a decade, AGT Food and Ingredients has grown to more than C$2b in revenue with operations in five continents.
