He aha te rerekētanga o ngā Ratonga Ahumoni i ngā Ratonga Matua? | What’s the difference between Financial Services and Core Consulting?

When you apply for a role, you may have the option to nominate a preference to work in either the Financial Services Sector Organisation (FSO) or Core Consulting.

In our Core Consulting business, you’ll have access to clients across multiple industries, so you’ll get broad experience as you work across different business sectors. We mainly work with government and public sector, and consumer clients. We’re a global business so while you’ll focus on clients within New Zealand, you’ll also have opportunities to work across other geographies where possible.

In FSO, you’ll work with a diverse range of clients within the financial services industry across Insurance, Banking, and Capital Markets, and Wealth and Asset Management. You will be part of our talented FSO team with a wide range of financial services experience both locally and globally in key growth areas including risk and regulation, technology, customer and growth, strategy and business transformation, financial performance, IFRS 17, open banking, sustainability, cybersecurity, actuarial, and data and analytics. With our deep industry knowledge and experience, we are committed to providing professional services and support to our clients in the financial services sector to help them address some of their most complex challenges.

  • Te Tikanga | How it works

    Preparation
You'll need some basic skills to be successful in your Internship Programme, so you'll undertake induction. We'll equip you with the essentials and help you rapidly develop your capabilities through a series of exercises – including talks and team-building sessions. You'll then be ready for business, handling tasks similar to those we give to our first-year graduates.

    Teaming
As part of a team, you'll benefit from the knowledge and experience of established professionals. You'll also gain exposure to a variety of clients and industry sectors. This will give you an insight into the business and a good understanding of life at EY.

    Meeting leadership
As well as client work, you'll have the opportunity to meet and perhaps shadow one of our senior team members. This will give you an idea of where your ambitions can take you. We're looking to recruit future leaders through our Intern Programme, so this is an opportunity to show us what you're made of.

    Feedback
You want your Internship Programme to be a valuable and challenging experience. So do we, which is why we appoint a counsellor to provide regular feedback and guidance. Your counsellor will be your main point of contact during your time with us and will be responsible for helping you develop professionally and personally.

    Relationships
You'll make plenty of contacts and connections during your Internship Programme. To help cement these relationships, we recommend you get involved in the many opportunities and events on offer. You might also choose to become an ambassador for EY upon your return to university
