GigNow Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re successful in your application to a contracting role, here’s what you can expect.
Before you join
We’ll get straight into the required pre-employment screening checks and our payroll provider will be in touch with you to arrange necessary paperwork. As EY is a professional services firm subject to external regulations, you will also need to clear an Independence check.
All contractors through GigNow are payrolled via EY’s payroll provider who manage onboarding and payment. You will receive an assignment letter from the payroll provider along with any relevant non-disclosure agreements. Once all the paperwork is complete, you will be ready to get started.
When you start
On day one, you will report to an agreed location where you will be met by an EY representative. For some contractors this may be at an EY office and for others it may be at a client site. You will receive either an EY laptop or a client laptop and a guide to help you get set up. You’ll need to use this laptop for the duration of your contract. It’s important that no EY or client information is sent to any personal accounts or stored on personal hardware. Our payroll provider will have set you up on their timesheet and expense system, through which you’ll be paid weekly in arrears. Your manager will provide an engagement introduction, which should include:
- Client background and engagement objectives
- EY values, engagement team structure, as well as colleague introductions
- Quality and risk management standards and requirements
- Your role and services that you would provide
- Tools and methods you’ll be expected to use, as well as engagement documentation
What are the hours and travel commitments like?
Hours and travel requirements vary depending on the assignment and will be discussed with you during the interview process.
Am I eligible for holidays, sick leave and employee benefits?
GigNow workers are not employees of EY and thus are ineligible for EY benefits, including paid time off.
Once I’ve registered on GigNow, what can I expect?
We encourage you to regularly review the GigNow job board for current opportunities and apply to roles that align to your skills and interests. If you are matched to a role the GigNow team will connect with you to discuss your suitability.
What we expect from you
When you join the team, we expect the same quality of work and professionalism that we do from our permanent people. We’ll give you regular feedback on the services you provide, to help guide your efforts and make sure you meet these standards.
You’re also responsible for recording the days and hours you’ve worked and ensuring your timesheets are submitted every Friday.
Your point of contact
Your manager will make sure you have everything you need to succeed. They’ll look over what you produce, provide feedback and do whatever they can to make your EY experience a great one.
Things to note
- Initial contracts cannot be issued for longer than twelve months
- Client-related expenses are payable separately from the daily rate and as agreed with your manager
- We’ll confirm the end of your contract typically two weeks prior to its finish, or as agreed in your contract
