Working in a dynamic team in Northern Ireland

Evelyn is an Audit Manager and talks more about her relocation from South Africa to Northern Ireland, EY’s commitment to DE&I and what it’s like to work within Audit. 

I
am Ghanaian by nationality but grew up in South Africa. Having worked in Audit for over 10 years across South Africa and the UK, I moved to Belfast in 2021 to further my career development and take on a new challenge. 

EY is an organisation that really focuses on its people. I recall when I was at university, listening to EY representatives explain their purpose and culture. I wanted to experience this for myself, and I am excited to see this focus has not changed after all these years, and that everyone at EY has the chance to shape the career they want. 

Working at EY has helped me have a broader understanding of inclusivity, having the opportunity to work with teams across the USA, Scotland and London. I have learnt so much from those around me, and we truly work in a diverse and dynamic team. I really enjoy living in Northern Ireland and my colleagues have been a big part of my journey here, having been so welcoming and supportive. I work with an awesome team.  

The focus on people is dearest to my heart. Irrespective of your seniority, there is always support available and an infrastructure that cares for you and your career progression. The professional services industry has truly demonstrated its ability to adapt and evolve. I’m proud to see the progress we are making with our diversity initiatives. As the face of our industry changes it demands a different response, approach, and perspective, which is why diversity matters.
