Less Merch
Taking a new approach to our student events and fairs in the Nordics. We have decided to remove our merch and let the students donate the money to charity.

Traditionally, career fairs have been an arena filled with free merch and stuff given away to participants to draw attention to the brand and cause. We have taken a step back to evaluate the true purpose of these events. With an annual distribution of merchandise at our fairs equivalent to 200,000 pens in the Nordics alone, we had to ask ourselves, “Is this truly necessary?” The answer was a resounding no. The digital age has rendered such practices not only obsolete but also environmentally irresponsible.
As a first step, instead of allocating budgets to items that are likely to end up forgotten in a drawer, we are redirecting these funds to where they can make a real difference.
By eliminating the clutter of physical freebies, we're focusing on what truly matters—engaging with students in meaningful conversations about our values, culture, and the impactful work we do.
A new take on merchandise
Imagine a career fair where the focus isn't on the tangible but on the intangible impact one can make. When students drop by our stand, they will be greeted not with the freebie clutter but with a thoughtfully curated list of charities to choose from, thus shifting the focus from merch to meaningful engagement and impactful choices.
The message is clear: values, vision and action
For the students, it's an opportunity to see the change they can make. Though we do recognize that this is just the beginning, we believe every small step counts.
Our message is clear: At EY, we are committed to building a better working world, and we welcome all who share this vision to be a part of our story.
