Mr. Choy Peng Yew, a qualified chartered accountant with CPA Australia and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, is the Group CEO of Pet World International. Choy started the business in 2006 to provide uncompromising pet nutrition, with the welfare of animals being top priority.
Pet World has a total of close to 88 stock keeping units (SKUs), 13 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) suppliers and 25,000 distribution points nationwide. The company has expanded to more than ten countries in the Asia Pacific region, with two additional regional offices, in Thailand and Indonesia.
Although impacted by the economic shocks brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and the US-China Trade Dispute, Choy built a RM50 million manufacturing plant, which is now one of the most modern plants in Southeast Asia with expertise in food safety, innovation and creative R&D from a leading British retail consortium.
Choy is passionate about enriching lives through the Pet World Foundation, which invests in innovation research, engages in university partnerships, continuously advocates for animal protection under the Responsible Pet Ownership Program and has set up a not-for-profit food bank.
Pet World is committed to eight of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by using 50% upcycled meat ingredients, promoting energy efficiency and supporting human rights.
Choy will continue to drive the pet-focused businesses, with a vision to make Pet World the largest local pet care brand in Malaysia and the leading and most trusted resource in pet care, as a fully integrated and complete solution provider for all pet health and wellness needs.
