Toshikazu Shintani is the EY Japan Tax Global Compliance and Reporting Leader, and also the head of the Osaka Office.
With 20 years of experience in tax advisory, his clients include major pharmaceutical firms, general trading companies (sōgō shōsha), Japanese and multinational companies, and overseas private equity and real estate funds. He has expertise in domestic and overseas restructuring transactions, tax due diligence and tax structuring for domestic and foreign M&A, PMI, IP planning, and the establishment of global and regional holding companies.
He has supported many Japanese multinational companies in tax advisory services such as foreign tax credits, withholding tax, controlled foreign corporation (CFC) and net operating loss (NOL) planning, as well as compliance operations such as support for tax return preparation, tax system development, and tax audit. His international experience includes a period at the EY New York office working on advisory operations related to Japanese tax.
