Cloud redefining the technology landscape in Vietnam

With the cloud market poised to exponentially grow in Vietnam over the next few years, organizations are increasingly embarking on the cloud journey, but are still challenged by multiple factors to successfully migrate.

EY Vietnam conducted the Cloud Readiness & Adoption Survey across more than 150 organizations across sectors in Vietnam to understand the evolving role of the cloud in their business. The survey focuses on their readiness and key factors to adopt cloud, as well as how they are getting future ready.

According to the survey findings, the cloud market in Vietnam is expected to grow to around US $ 475- 500 million by 2025. Organizations in Vietnam have shown a high likeliness to explore and adopt multi-cloud, embark on enterprise-wide cloud transformation, and seek verticalized industry solutions in cloud.


In this survey, we asked organizations about their thoughts in adopting cloud services and heard back:

  • 89% of organization are looking to enhance service performance through use of cloud
  • 84% of organizations are willing to adopt cloud first strategy in the current year
  • 65% of organizations have defined objectives around BPC, Big data, AI/ ML, DevOps and Microservices
  • 61% of organizations are exploring public cloud and discussing with service providers of cloud
  • 56% of organizations are designing requirements cases to be tested on cloud
     

The report identifies the key drivers for businesses in Vietnam to adopt cloud, their current state, and the challenges facing them. The report also provides key points to develop a more holistic approach towards building cloud migration strategies.

Cloud is increasingly becoming the backbone to deliver computing services in Vietnam—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence capabilities. Organizations are turning to cloud based “as-a-service” models and adopting a “cloud first” approach for applications and workloads. However, modernization of an organization’s IT infrastructure does not necessitate a full move to the cloud. This balance of cloud first and existing technology requires a thoughtful and strategic approach to infrastructure, software and product modernization.

Summary

While organizations in Vietnam have initiated focus on technology, collaboration, and resilience to build the next gen ready cloud ecosystem, based on the survey findings, we believe that a cloud roadmap needs to be an integral part of their technology strategy in order to overcome barriers to cloud adoption that exist today.
