Tan Kok Yam

Mr. Tan Kok Yam is the Chief Executive of SkillsFuture Singapore.
Mr. Tan Kok Yam joined SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) in November 2021 as its Chief Executive. He leads the organization to drive and implement the national SkillsFuture movement. To this end, SSG strives to promote a culture of lifelong learning, build a support system to enable the pursuit of skills mastery, and raise the quality of adult education and training in Singapore.
Prior to Nov 2021, Mr. Tan was the Deputy Secretary of the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office. In this role, he established plans to realize impactful projects for Smart Nation and developed policies and initiatives for the public sector to improve its use of data and IT to serve citizens better. Mr. Tan was also concurrently Deputy Secretary in Strategy Group overseeing issues related to climate change.
Mr. Tan had also previously served as Director of Manpower in the Ministry of Defence, and was at the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Education, dealing with public housing and higher education policies respectively.
Mr. Tan is an engineer by training, having graduated from the University College London in 1997 with a Bachelor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Master of Science in Telecommunications. He completed the 1-year Sloan Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business as a Fulbright Scholar.
