Results 2023: Dutch companies responsible for at least 2.4% global CO2 emissions
On Tuesday, November 28, we published the EY Climate Barometer 2023. Here we examined the degree of transparency, completeness and quality of the reports based on public information. The conclusion?
The Netherlands has the potential to exert significant influence on reducing global warming. The 74 Dutch companies analyzed in the Climate Barometer alone are collectively responsible for at least 2.4% of global CO2 emissions.
This percentage is actually even higher since about a quarter of these companies do not report or only partially report their scope 3 emissions. In addition, these companies are only a small subset of the approximately 7,500 companies that will fall under the scope of the CSRD from 2024.
This shows that Dutch business has the potential to make a significant impact on global emissions reductions.
